As a responsible member of the community, CSWDC is committed to the continual improvement of its environmental performance, minimising any adverse effects on the environment and the public and preventing pollution where possible. We willl achieve these objectives by applying the following principles.
- We will comply with relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice. In particular we shall ensure that all requirements of any improvements programme initiated in respect of our Integrated Pollution Prevention & Control (IPPC) Permit are carried out.
- We shall operate the EfW facility to optimise the energy efficient production of steam and electricity.
- We will develop and operate an Environmental Management System, which will be externally certified to ISO14001. The Environmental Management System shall within its scope cover all activities carried out at the Energy from Waste Facility and also the Public Waste Recycling and Disposal Facility.
- We will aim to continually improve the plant and equipment to reduce emissions; this will be achieved by improving our operational control systems and by optimising combustion.
This policy statement sets out the standards and aims of CSWDC and shall be worked towards by all levels of the organisation.
