Electrical Control & Instrumentation Engineer

This position is an integral part of the Engineering team. You will be expected to lead a team of EC&I technicians offering support and expertise to the Engineering Department with responsibility for the SCADA control and IT systems.

 The core responsibilities will be:

 Performs the role of Authorised Person (Electrical) under the CSWDC Safety Rules 

Provides specialised EC&I engineering expertise and where appropriate, to engage external assistance

Formulates and maintain long- and short-term EC&I maintenance policy and practices

Manages major plant outages to ensure timely completion of the work

·    To prepare technical specifications and tender documents associated with work of a specialist nature, ensuring that all work is carried out in compliance with statutory regulations and site safety requirements

Maintains plant history and statutory records for the EC&I department

Assists in the preparation of capital and revenue budgets for the EC&I department

·     In consultation with other departments, specifies the type and extent of spares holdings, materials and stores items

·    Assists in the preparation of detailed plans for plant overhaul and major maintenance programmes, arrange outages as required and liaise with contractors, Heads of Department, Company staff and outside personnel to progress the work to successful completion

Responsible for the maintenance and development of the plant control system and to explore options to improve business and plant performance

Ensures all equipment is calibrated to the required standard

Participates in training, development and appraisal of staff in line with the requirements of the Company

Provides cover for the Mechanical/Planning Engineer in their absence

Is available to be called, to support and attend the plant if necessary during emergency situations and breakdowns

Undertakes other responsibilities and duties as required by the needs of the business

·     IT – take responsibility for IT strategy, liaising with internal stakeholders and external advisors as appropriate. Take responsibility for the development of a rolling 3-year IT strategic plan.

IT – be the first point of contact for technical IT matters for the domestic, process and all other networks.

IT – take responsibility for the Company’s cyber security measures to ensure that adequate steps are taken to protect the Company from online threats.  Be the first point of contact for any queries raised on cyber security measure by insurers.

IT – report to senior management meetings on IT related matters on a monthly basis. Report to other stakeholder meetings as required by the Managing Director.

Be responsible for the HV network for maintenance, inspections and switching

 What you need:

 A minimum in HNC in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or a related field.

Experience of SCADA systems

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in leading a team

HV experience is essential
