The Coventry & Solihull Waste Disposal Company Limited (“we”) are a "data controller" of the personal information you provide to us. This means that we are responsible for deciding how we hold and use personal information about you. Our company registration number is 02690488 and our registered address is The Waste To Energy Plant, Bar Road, Coventry, West Midlands, CV3 4AN.
This privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal information about you, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation.
How we will use the information about you
We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. We will use the personal information we collect via our use of CCTV, body word video and ANPR to prevent and detect crime, to monitor whether our sites are being used appropriately as domestic household waste and recycling centres, and for protecting the safety of our staff and members of the public at our sites. We may share your personal information with the relevant local council or, if you are entering our sites as an employee of a third party organisation, we may share your personal information with your employer if we consider your actions whilst you are on our site to be dangerous.
The legal basis for this processing of your personal information is for our legitimate business interests as set out in the paragraph above, except where such interests are overridden by your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.
How long we keep it
Data recorded by the CCTV and ANPR systems and body worn video will be stored digitally. Information from CCTV cameras will not be retained indefinitely but will be permanently deleted once there is no reason to retain the recorded information. Exactly how long images will be retained for will vary according to the purpose for which they are being recorded. For example, where images are being recorded for crime prevention purposes, data will be kept long enough only for incidents to come to light. In all other cases, recorded images will be kept for no longer than 28 days.
Under certain circumstances, by law you have the right to:
- request access to, correction or erasure of, the personal information we hold about you;
- request the restriction of processing of your personal information;
- object to processing of your personal information where we are relying on a legitimate interest and there is something about your particular situation which makes you want to object to processing on this ground; and
- request the transfer of your personal information to another party.
If you want to review, verify, correct or request erasure of your personal information, object to the processing of your personal information, or request that we transfer a copy of your personal information to another party, please contact in writing at The Waste To Energy Plant, Bar Road, Coventry, West Midlands, CV3 4AN.
You will not have to pay a fee to access your personal information or to exercise any of the other rights. However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request for access is clearly unfounded or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with the request in such circumstances.
We may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access the information (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is another appropriate security measure to ensure that personal information is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it. You will also have to sign a form confirming the request and provide a reason why you want and how you will use the data.
Should you be unhappy with our processing of your personal information, you have a right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, which is the regulator for data protection.
Please address any questions, comments and requests regarding our data processing practices to The Waste To Energy Plant, Bar Road, Coventry, West Midlands, CV3 4AN.
