HWRC Rules
Important Information
Disposal of all waste is tightly regulated by the Environment Agency, so there are some rules that we must ask you to follow when using our facility:
-
We can only accept domestic waste from your own private residence and only from residences within the City of Coventry.
- We are unable to accept any form of trade or commercial/industrial waste.
-
Please observe and follow the safety information displayed around the site and follow all instructions from the site staff.
-
Please refer to the Vehicle Access Policy here - all vans above a certain height must be booked in and all deliveries of asbestos must be booked in.
-
Any member of the public that does not comply with these rules will be refused access.
Keeping our site Safe: Zero - Tolerance Policy
At CSWDC, the safety, dignity, and well-being of our team are our top priorities. Our Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) staff are here to help you dispose of your waste safely and efficiently.
In line with our legal duty under the Employment Rights Act 2025, we actively protect our workforce from all forms of third-party harassment. We operate a strict Zero-Tolerance Policy against any abusive, aggressive, or discriminatory conduct.
Our Code of Conduct
When visiting the HWRC, you are expected to treat our staff and other visitors with respect. Abusive behaviour will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Shouting, swearing, or aggressive gestures
- Threatening or intimidating behaviour
- Discriminatory or harassing remarks related to age, disability, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or gender reassignment
How We Enforce This Policy
To ensure the safety of our team, this facility uses proactive security measures to monitor and log incidents:
- Body-Worn Video Cameras (Body Cams): Staff wear body cameras, which will be activated to record evidence if abuse or aggression occurs.
- CCTV & ANPR Systems: High-definition CCTV and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) operate continuously across the site.
Consequences of Abusive Conduct
Any visitor who subjects our staff to abusive or discriminatory behaviour will face immediate consequences:
- Immediate Removal: You will be ordered to leave the facility immediately, regardless of whether you have finished unloading.
- Incident Reporting: The incident, along with your vehicle registration (via ANPR) and video footage (via CCTV/Body Cam), will be formally logged into our system.
- Site Exclusion: Serious or repeat offences will result in a potential long-term or permanent exclusion from the HWRC facility.
- Police Referral: Where illegal conduct or threats of violence take place, we will pass all video evidence and vehicle details directly to the police.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our site a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
