Plant Operations Manager

  Attractive salary + Excellent Pension Package The Plant Operations Manager reports to the Managing Director and takes full responsibility for Plant Operations at the Energy from Waste (EfW) Plant.  This includes compliance with all environmental and statutory legislation, achieving production targets and meeting the day to day requirements of the business. The role: Reporting to the Managing Director and forming part of the Senior Management Team you will;  CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the operational performance of all plant and processes in the EfW Plant, methods and organisation of work and implementation of changes as appropriate to optimise operational and business efficiency (cost effectiveness). This to include Energy Management and the maximisation of the benefits from the export of electricity and heat energy Ensures the Plant operates to legal standards and requirements, conditions approved in the Environmental Permit and other requirements of Environmental legislation Ensures all working patterns operated within the section produce the appropriate efficient manning levels Maintains liaison with other Managers on major projects including feasibility studies, evaluation, costing and programming of installation Responsible for all aspects of staff management within the section, including recruitment, selection, induction and training of personnel to ensure that staff have the ability to carry out their duties effectively Ensures that safe working practices are developed and maintained at all times and discharges personal responsibility in accordance with the Company’s Health & Safety Policy statement and Health & Safety legislation Responsible and accountable for the plant safety rules and its associated supporting documents Maintains a consistent technical overview of the Plant and regularly checks on performance to ensure optimum efficiency is achieved. To regularly assess the latest technology available for updating plant and equipment and make recommendations for replacement and refurbishment where necessary which would lead to increased cost effectiveness Is available to be called in during emergency situations and Plant breakdowns where necessary (you will be on call as per the weekend and bank holiday management rota) Assists with the preparation of the annual budget and subsequently works within those budgetary provisions for services under their control To ensure compliance with the Company procedures Optimises the waste throughput of the Plant, to maximise revenue whilst minimising problems associated with the reception and incineration of material Responsible for managing the EFW water treatment and legionella control   PERSONAL PROFILE Strong manager with excellent leadership skills that is able to motivate staff and push forward changes within the business Problem resolution - has the ability to identify problems, prioritise and select solutions Training & Development - understands the importance of identifying training needs and establishing personal development plans for staff Appraisal - can conduct effective and constructive appraisal interviews Has an analytical approach in setting up procedures and systems Style & Behaviour - is persuasive and approachable Teambuilding - can apply the principles of motivation and delegation to encourage ownership and team spirit Innovative in the approach adopted to move the Company forward and improve profitability Presentational skills - must be able to communicate with all levels of staff, sell ideas and make presentations to the Shareholders and Board of Directors with confidence and competence EXPERIENCE Process/operational/engineering experience of combustion process Management/supervisory experience Knowledge/experience of safety rules and its associated documents/procedures A full understanding of the needs of the current and future legislation, e.g. WID/IED, Environmental Permitting,  EMS  together with a strategy for implementation and compliance. A working knowledge of Health and Safety issues in an industrial environment Preferably an in-depth knowledge of waste management procedures gained in an EFW plant. Ideally with an understanding of the fundamentals of steam raising boiler and power generation plant QUALIFICATIONS Minimum HNC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.  Ideally degree level qualified and working towards chartered status. HWRC Site Operative £20,808 + Bonus with Excellent Pension Package   A vacancy has arisen for a HWRC Site Operative. You will be an integral member of a team of Waste Operatives responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Household Waste Recycling Centre which is part of the CSWDC Waste to Energy plant. This is an interesting and varied position dealing with members of the public in a busy and demanding environment. You will need to be keen, flexible, motivated and enjoy outdoor work.  You should be a good team player and be able to work with the minimum supervision when required. You will also have good interpersonal skills, as the position will involve direct contact with members of the public. Experience of tele-handler / 360 Excavator and fork truck operations will also be desirable but not essential as training will be given.
